Georgia Injury Law was founded in 2024 by Matthew Wages Johnson, an attorney and former United States Marine Corps officer, with the goal of serving the people of Georgia who have suffered harm and deserve justice.  Mr. Johnson grew up in a family of funeral directors, and he learned at a young age that unexpected tragedies happen.  His family served other families with compassion after losing their loved ones, and he serves other people with compassion when they have injury claims.

Mr. Johnson cares deeply about his community, state, and country.  He is a seventh-generation Gwinnett County native and a graduate of Central Gwinnett High School, where he was valedictorian and co-captain of the wrestling team.  He attended the University of Georgia, where he earned degrees in Economics (BA) and Political Science (BA), and he later graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law (JD) and was admitted to the practice of law.

 

Mr. Johnson’s military service as a Marine Corps officer drilled into him the importance of integrity and the dual objectives of mission accomplishment and caring for others, objectives that guide his legal service with Georgia Injury Law.  He graduated from Officer Candidates School, The Basic School, and the Basic Lawyer Course at the Naval Justice School, where he was certified as a 4402 Judge Advocate, or military lawyer.

Mr. Johnson has traveled to 57 countries, and his interests include history, politics, urbanism, and University of Georgia football.  He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Marine Corps League, and the American Legion.  Mr. Johnson has spoken across the country to thousands of veterans and their families about their veterans benefits, and he is active in the veterans community in Georgia.
